Peter Romes Collection

The preservation society was contacted by a family member of Peter Romes who served as Lighthouse Keeper on Thunder Bay Island from 1934-1937, to determine if we would be interested in a donation of the furniture he made while serving on the island. Much of the wood used in his creations was actually harvested from the trees on the island. We were ecstatic about accepting such a generous donation. Included are a desk, chest of drawers, library table, kitchen storage stand, bedside table, and 5 dining room chairs. Our hope is to renovate the third bedroom on the second floor to display all of these pieces together for public viewing.
