We have received notification that the Community Impact Grant we applied for from the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan has been awarded. The grant will be applied to the cost of the design and engineering plan for a dock and walkway to the shoreline on Thunder Bay Island. This project is essential to actually constructing the dock. The temporary seasonal docks we’ve tried to utilize for many years are no longer an option. The future maintenance and restoration of the light station, as well as public visitation are hinging on having a safe and reliable landing access.
